Coleman Hot Water-On-Demand Portable Water Heater

... I've had this for 4 years at my (waterless) cabin, and it works very well. The water we use comes off the roof into a rain barrel, and it was easy to adapt the pump to screw into the rain barrel. We do have power inside the cabin, so recharging the battery is easy. Our battery lasts for about a month of quick showers, and I have noticed that after 4 years, it doesn't hold a charge quite as well. In the cold, the battery needs recharging more quickly. I use this every evening, 4 months of the year, for a quick 2 gallon shower.

A small propane cylinder lasts about 3 weeks of daily showers. The propane heats up the water very quickly--usually in 3 seconds. I avoid wasting that water by putting the hose in a bucket for those 3 seconds; then I pour the bucket of cold water back into the rain barrel. Simple.

The water temperature can get extremely hot, so do be cautious.

I give this machine my highest recommendation. ...

Coleman 2-Burner Fold 'N Go InstaStart Stove

... I really wanted to like this thing. It's pretty, and the design is clever. Bought it because I wanted something more compact than my old, finicky 2-burner white gas stove. I liked the folding design, easy ignition, simplicity of propane fuel, claim of consistent performance even when fuel is low.

Day one of a 3-day trip, fuel bottle 80% full, stove roared to life easily, cooked hot. Valve very touchy, couldn't open it more than 1/6 of a turn w/o overheating. By day 3, bottle 25% full, opened the valve 2 complete revolutions and still the flame wasn't hot enough to cook a pancake. My daughter, who usually likes my pancakes, was unimpressed to say the least.

Reasons: 1) lack of windscreen. With even a light breeze, the heat just blows sideways. 2) very high pot support. Distance from burner to pot more than double that of other stoves. Exacerbates problem #1. 3) poor regulator.

I took the stove back to the store and swapped for a less expensive Century model. Using the same depleted fuel bottle that didn't have enough pressure remaining to brown a pancake on the Coleman, I cooked a whole batch of pancakes with the Century--AFTER boiling water for rice. Saved enough $$ on the exchange to buy a large refillable propane tank. Now I'm a happy camper.

BTW, before you buy any stove that uses disposable fuel bottles, think about how you will get rid of them. Especially if it's a product like this, which renders the last 25% of your fuel virtually useless. ...

... I like this little LED lantern. You can adjust the amount of light you need. Even on the highest setting, it does not seem very bright, but if you are in total darkness, like a power outage, it is perfectly fine for

The biggest problem I have with it is, the glass is clear, and there is nothing to filter the glare of the LED and reflector. It's very annoying. I solved the problem by cutting a 4 1/2 X 10'' strip of white tissue paper and wrapping it around the glass. Not only did this fix the glare, the tissue paper also acts as a "diffuser" and spreads the light evenly, and softly in every direction without effecting the overal brightness. It just made it softer, and more pleasant. The lamp does not get hot, so no worries. I have had the light on high all night, no problems.
So, with the tissue paper diffuser I give it a 4 star rating, without the diffuser, I would give it 2 stars, simply because the glare is so annoying. ...

First, we confirmed that, although this griddle is smaller and fits the smaller Coleman Road Trip Grills, such as

this griddle would still work in the larger grills. (The one-sided pieces available for the smaller grills, will not work in the larger Road Trip grills.)

Instructions that came with the griddle said to not use it with other grilling surfaces, so we took out the grate, and after some maneuvering, found that the best placement is toward the front (with the fat catcher toward the front), with the small legs resting on the heat tents. We cannot close the grill lid while using the griddle, but this isn't necessary - the grill is plenty hot enough, set just slightly above medium.

The first time I used this griddle, I was amazed. No other griddle I have ever used (ESPECIALLY the electric griddle I have inside), produces the even heating of this one. The bacon came out excellent, each of the six slices (1/4 pound) heating evenly, placed wide across the griddle face. The bacon was fatty, and the grease catcher filled approximately 1/4 to 1/3 full (the griddle was at a very slight slant toward the grease catcher), so was fully capable of holding up to a pound without overflowing.

I followed with an omelet for my husband and two eggs over-easy for myself. Even though the griddle was at a slight slant, the eggs only slightly started running, but because the surface so evenly heated, I was able to just touch them with my spatula and they did not run further.

It was the best breakfast of its type that we have had. Our electric stove (appliance)inside does not heat our anodized, nonstick, even-heating pans as evenly as the Road Trip Grill with the Aluminum Griddle. I look forward to more great breakfasts from this awesome griddle and highly recommend it to anyone with any of the Coleman grills on which it can be used. ...
